Guild Wars 2 Inspiring is a understatement!

The title says it all really I recently started playing Guild Wars 2 and I have to say the art department have done a fantastic job on this one. It has really inspired me to want to push myself that little bit more to one day work in the industry and hopefully produce work of a similar standard.

I have decided to give the Train2Game coursework a short break at the moment and focus on building a small but very detailed scene based on the general time period and feel that has been used in Guild Wars 2.

I shall be doing a series of blog posts explaining my development pipeline to give you all a good understanding of the sort of work I do and how I approach different problems as they arise (as they always do) I plan to do a very primitive concept of the scene and then slowly build up the detail until I have a good high poly model then I will bake down all the appropriate information onto a lower polygon model.

I'm really excited about this project and look forward to showing you my progress as it unfolds thanks again for reading.

First post of 2013!

Let me start by saying Happy New Year! 2012 was very eventful and great fun. I 2013 I intend to really put the hammer down and focus on my goals. I'm really excited about what the future may hold. Train2Game has been a great experience so far and I have met some very talented individuals further increasing my want to get into the industry as a full blown environment artist.

Its not been all smooth sailing however. Sadly production on Stool Pigeon has come to a halt. Due to communication issues between the team and general life getting in the way for all of us. There is a version of the game that can be downloaded onto any windows 8 device. However this is the build we used as our final game for the World Record attempt. Production will eventually continue once all the members of the team are available and working on the project again.

On a more positive note I have made allot of progress on my course and have managed to create my first character model. However I'm unable to post images outside of the Train2Game forums because students are not allowed to publish there coursework so at the moment these images have to stay with myself which is a shame because I'm really proud of what I have achieved.

I have a few ideas for some small mini projects that I will be posting as soon as I have decided which one to complete.

Thanks for taking your time to read my blog more posts to come soon
